Manchester City manager Josep Guardiola has teased the club’s management at his pre-season press conference against AC Milan (July 27) that he would be open to extending his contract beyond the end of the 2024-25 season.
The future of the 53-year-old is a question mark, having led City to every trophy they have won. And there is also the league investigation into more than 115 charges of financial violations, which could see penalties imposed during this season.
Of course, someone who has been through thick and thin like Pep must send a positive signal first in order to maintain a good working atmosphere in the team. Therefore, he has hinted that he wants to leave his future at the Etihad Stadium for more than 9 years.
“When I was leaving, I was ready to say I was leaving – UFABET but I never said that,” he said before the game at Yankees Stadium in New York City, USA.
“Let’s wait and see what happens, but I won’t rule out the possibility of extending my contract. If I do, it’s because I want to.”
“Today marks my ninth season with one club. It feels like an eternity, so I want to make sure it’s the right decision, not just for myself, but for the club and the players.”
“If they continue to drive like they have for the past 8 years, no matter what competition, no matter what tournament – then we will see.”
“But one thing is for sure, I won’t be here for another 8 years!”
“It’s better to create excitement for both the players and the manager.”
“At the same time, we have achieved success together and will be Premier League champions, go deep into the cup and play in the Champions League – that’s how I feel right now.”
The club also wants Guardiola to extend his contract by at least another year so he can stay in the position for a full decade.
