Brazil striker Vinicius Junior has apologised to fans after his side’s 1-0 World Cup qualifier defeat to Paraguay on Tuesday.
The defeat left the Selecao fifth in the standings with just 10 points from eight games.
Vinicius, who played alongside Real Madrid duo Rodrygo and Endrick, failed to find the net in the end.
“We apologise to the fans who have always been with us,” he said.
“But these are difficult moments. We just want to improve… I know my potential. I know what I can do for the national team. “
Brazil are fifth in the table, ahead of Venezuela on goal difference, and a point above seventh-placed Paraguay.
“It’s completely different [than playing for Real Madrid],” Vinícius said to ยูฟ่าเบท. “Games in Europe are different, the ball gets from one side [of the pitch] to the other faster… We have to know how to adapt, so that everyone plays better, so that we can win games.
“We know the situation we’re in, we want to get Brazil out of this situation at any cost, we all have to go home now and start thinking about what we can do to get back to playing well. And We cannot come here, lose these points and play the way we did. It is a difficult time, we must take on board all the criticism and return as quickly as possible to put Brazil on top.”
Of course, it is a very difficult process because when you don’t have confidence, you can’t score, you can’t make assists and you can’t do well. “
I know where I can improve. I know what I can offer. When I get better, I can calm everyone down. I know my responsibility. I want to improve as soon as possible.”
